As most of my readers are aware, today is Father’s Day. My husband began his day early by setting an enormous quantity of chicken to brine. He loves to bar-b-que, and chicken is his favorite grillin’ meat.
I was awakened by a phone call from my little brother around 5:45 am with the news that his baby boy, Joseph Anton Lewis Holston, had made his arrival — a truly joyous way to celebrate the day!
His name-sakes are St. Joseph, Anton Bruckner (Doug’s favorite composer), and C.S. Lewis. A magnificent name!!
Paul got a call from the Gonzales house and was off to pick up his church crew while I took our bunch, and we had a wonderful time of blessing, worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ at mass, with words of encouragement from our shepherd, Bishop Olmsted, in the homily.
Afterward we all came home and there was the usual festivation, computer fun, tasty food, and lots of laughter and joy. I was tempted to feel sorry for my hubby, as he had to spend most of the time outside at the grill, except for the fact that he actually enjoys the heat. I think he may have overestimated how much chicken we would need — but, leftovers are a very good thing. No complaints! 🙂
Here are pics from the afternoon (hover over the i for captions – and full-screen is best!)!
I’m given to understand that Jeff will be stopping by later to bestow upon us a ministry of fiery indigestion in the form of a supply of habanero peppers. I must think carefully upon how to best utilize this blessing.
