Having a Ball

Having a Ball

I am sure, though I haven’t thoroughly researched it, that the etymology of the phrase “having a ball” refers to attending a swanky evening with lots of fancy dresses and dancing and all the good fun that goes along with it.  Therefore it is safe to say that Geneva, when she went shopping with Christmas money after Christmas and bought a fabulous dancing dress for a mere $25 at Ross, was having a ball; and when she got all dressed up and had her sister do her hair and makeup, she was having a ball; and when she went out with many of her church friends on the evening of December 28th to a Christmas Ball, and learned historical dances and laughed until nearly midnight, she was indeed, having a ball.  Here are the pics of her, pre-party.  I think it’s lovely that folks are keeping this formal-wear and historical dance tradition alive, and we are so blessed to have been befriended by some of them!
