At Ss. Simon and Jude there is a longstanding rivalry that fosters school spirit. There are two Kindergarten classrooms, and when you enroll your child, he or she becomes either a Jet (Red) or a Bomber (Blue), and preparations begin for the big game – Jets v. Bombers in T-ball. The whole community looks forward to this game every year, because once you are a Jet or a Bomber, that’s your team for life. When the day of the game comes, the whole school turns out, along with parents and grandparents etc., wearing team colors, to support their team. Popcorn and pickles are sold to raise money for the classrooms, and it’s incredibly festive and so much fun!
Our Efrain was in on the Jets squad this year, and we all came to see him play. Those little kids were so darn cute! Some of them had no clue, while others looked like they’d been playing for years already. Regardless, they played hard, we cheered for the Red, and in the end, the Jets pulled it out – I think it was a 15-14 win. Good times!
