Over the weekend there was a whole lot of tearing down and building up at our house.
On the inside:
I’ve been working on rebuilding our family library after clearing out our many silver shelves of books into storage last year in order to have some breathing room for our expanding household. Saturday, with help from the oldest of my very handy daughters, the final piece of the first modular bookshelf went into place. These cube shelf units from BH&G are relatively inexpensive, easy to put together, and very sturdy. I love this look with red and black – goes perfectly with my bold color scheme. I’m already working on where to install the next units.
On the outside:
Grandma and Grandpa have graciously offered to build us a new, larger shed to replace the old dilapidated metal shed in our back yard. They came over Saturday morning, and while Laurent and I were building and filling shelves inside, they were outside working with Paul and Jacob to cut apart, tear down, and haul to the trailer the old metal shed. I have to admit, seeing the yard with that empty space, I get a wishful twinge to keep it open as a play area for the kids. But we have too much equipment and no garage, plus we want to get rid of the storage unit we pay for every month – so we definitely need the new shed, and are so blessed by all the loving help from Ma and Pa Heidmann.
