Out and About

Out and About

Thursday morning: a little car school while Oma had her therapy.  Always happy when there’s good progress in the car – it doesn’t work out as well every time, but today was great.

Therapy was shorter than usual today, as mum has to let her skin recover from a reaction to the prosthetic sleeve.  Therefore, I didn’t have as much time to work on my little crochet project as I might otherwise.  Trying a single-crochet pattern to make a really warm scarf for Jeff, since he’s basically driving around all winter in a convertible.  FYI, single crochet is a very slow way to produce anything bigger than a hotpad.

That being the case, we had a little time to stop off at a Costco I had never seen before that we drive past all the time on the way to and from therapy.  I didn’t make it there last shopping day and there are always one or two items I like to get there.  So we bopped in, leaving mom in the car to relax… only when we came through the door I knew immediately this was NOT my Avondale Costco.  It was not any Costco I have seen before.  The first thing inside the door was a veritable restaurant supply super-store!!!

I was agog.

I was stunned.

I was bamboozled.

I was, in a word, enraptured.

I wanted to wander the cookware aisles with stars in my eyes forever, but we were actually there for a reason, so I tore myself away and moved on. I floated through the entire store in a daze, insisting on touring the whole thing.  There was no clothing section, no tables laden with bestsellers and cookbooks and calendars, no deli – this was obviously a much more business customer oriented place.  However, when we came to the spices, I almost cried.  Cinnamon in a 5lb cannister??!!  Oh joy and hallelujah!!!  It was hard to leave.  It really was.  Megan was dragging me away. 🙂

Home again, we worked on some more school and some housecleaning, and Megan once again hit the floors to work her magic.  I’m enjoying her playlist booming from Paul’s exceptionally good speakers at his computer next to me while I type.  I’m glad I’m not too old to appreciate at least some of this generation’s music (and as you can see, she appreciates some of mine!).  Here’s the first smidge of her 5+hour playlist:
