Yesterday, thousands of Americans stood up for restoring our constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom in rallies all across the country. Our family joined in by attending the rally in Phoenix, held in the plaza outside the Sandra Day O’Connor Federal Court Building. It was a gorgeous day, the crowd was enthusiastic, and the speakers, including Bishop Olmsted, Bishop Nevares,
many other priests from our diocese, and many other pastors from various Christian denominations, as well as political figures (whose names I couldn’t hear very well over the sound system), were there to encourage and pray with us. There was music interspersed as well, including our National Anthem, Amazing Grace, and concluding with the Battle Hymn of the Republic to send us on our way. The crowd sang along with gusto!
Here are my pics from the day. We were not able to get close enough to see the speakers (my thanks to Matthew Sprinkle for the great pic of our Bishops above), but these give you an idea of the event anyway. I hope you have a chance to look around at some of the non-MSM coverage of the events in your vicinity. (I say non-MSM because I’m pretty sure based on past experience, that it was barely covered, and if it was, the reporting was biased and inaccurate.)

24 Mar 2012I’m so glad you were able to go and to take the kids. This is the stuff of HISTORY! Home schooling come alive! A week’s worth of lessons.

24 Mar 2012Absolutely – completely worth the daunting task of navigating through the unfamiliar canyon-like-maze of downtown streets in the heightened mid-day traffic. If we go to enough of these rallies I will hopefully get it down to a science.
It was on the way to find parking that I did the proverbial forehead slap and realized we could have saved so much time by taking the light rail downtown… however, it probably would have cost more for the 5 of us than the $7 I paid for 1 hour and 20 minutes in the parking garage. Oh well, next time I will think of it ahead of time and weigh the options carefully! 😀

24 Mar 2012Yes! What a day…and what an experience! It was so encouraging to see so many people there..including many with young children. Everyone was so upbeat and responsive! Can’t say enough about how glad I was to be able to be there!
