On Sunday afternoon, our daughter Megan gifted Paul and me with an afternoon to ourselves while she babysat her siblings. It was a wonderful blessing to have some extended time away – we often try to slip out for a quick lunch on weekends, but it’s rarely more than one hour. So this was very special and so appreciated! She brought little Patrick of course, and he and Damian, who are only four days apart in age, had a great time getting acquainted.

She not only watched ten rowdy kids, but motivated them to clean their rooms while she made my kitchen spotless and tidied the rest of the house, and kept them alive and happy for four hours. Incredible woman!!
Meanwhile, the hubby took me to the Desert Botanical Gardens for a photo-walk. It was a gorgeous day, 66F under a cloudless blue sky, with no wind. Couldn’t be more perfect for practicing with my macro lens. I rarely have the chance to take my time because I’m always lagging behind the family on walks and hikes, trying to catch up. It was lovely to have an assistant to help me with changing lenses and be able to go at my own pace.
I have to emphasize that my loving husband not only helped me with my lenses, he also pushed me around the gardens in a wheelchair over up-and-down terrain, much of it dirt paths, for 1.5 hours. His efforts to show me a good time were nothing short of heroic and I am staggered by how blessed I am with such a faithful spouse.
Here are my pics of the day – a few of which he also took because he could get an angle that I couldn’t reach from my chair. He’s the best.
