Every little girl’s dream is to be Cinderella — to be transported from the ordinary to the extraordinary, to be dressed in the most fabulous of ball gowns and to dance the night away with handsome gentlemen. It’s rare to find that sort of experience these days, but Saturday last, Megan found that dream coming true. She was invited by some marvelous theater friends to attend a Victorian Christmas Ball. Now of course, she did not have the proper attire for such an event (there are few who do), but she did have another marvelous friend who has gone to many a ball, who happily and so graciously opened her closet to Megan so she could choose some finery. I was completely taken by surprise when she came home and modeled the dress, I’d no idea her friend had made the offer! She even had a hoop to borrow, but when she tried the crinoline I’d used with my wedding dress, she decided it was much easier to maneuver (and avoid sudden-and-alarming wardrobe malfunctions!) than the hoop. Geneva offered her gorgeous velvet cloak as a dramatic finishing touch, but in the end Megan decided to go with a simple-yet-elegant black shawl to keep it simpler.
The result — exquisite!! And she had an absolutely wonderful time, danced and laughed the night away, and hopes very much to attend more of these events in the future.
