Splurge


Thanks to an inexplicable whimsy while shopping at Costco,
I had on hand the ingredients for an unusually rich and creamy
Sunday evening treat for the family:

6 Tbsp. Starbucks Hot Cocoa Mix
1 Can Evaporated Milk
1 Can water
Cinnamon to taste

Whisk milk into cocoa mix in heavy saucepan.
Add water to syrup, mixing thoroughly.
Sprinkle in cinnamon.
Heat till steaming and serve.

This would be perfect served in those tiny little espresso cups.
To take it over the top,
a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

I’m fairly certain it wouldn’t be hard to replicate the Starbucks cocoa mix
for much cheaper than the brand name version –
the ingredients on the can are simply cocoa and sugar.
I’ll share if I figure out the perfect proportions!
