Hi Ho! Robin Hood!

The day began with a minor shopping trip to the grocery store to replenish our larder, as well as pick up a few last minute necessities for the play (namely, black socks!).

Then it was home to make breakfast and rattle some cages to get the day rolling.  Opening night jitters abounded throughout the day… accomplishing any school whatsoever defied all probabilities, but I did my best to corral my flighty-nerved thespians and cause them to be productive.

At last I relented and let them run around like the crazies they are, fixing their hair, wigging out, giggling and squee-ing here there and everywhere, while I got myself ready.  In the last half hour before I left, I had to get myself showered, dressed, hair and makeup done, then had to make sure Jacob got cleaned up (no small task) and set out his clothes, put a pizza in the oven for Paul, Jacob and mom, and then take off with the three girls.

Then we had to stop at the grocery store to get concessions food (all students contribute to the concessions stand) and a sandwich from the deli for the four of us to split and eat on the drive there.  Then once Meg and Geneva were dropped off, Laurent and I had to find a convenience store where I could buy a small something or other and get some cash back, which I needed to contribute toward something at theater as well.  THEN we returned and were still about an hour early for the opening of the box office, so we relaxed behind the ticket table, took a few photos, and before we knew it the time was nearing to begin taking tickets.  Then a lovely lady arrived who was also working box office, so Laurent was let off and went to hang out with the cast until they had to go back stage, while I chatted with this beautiful mother of 9, all of whose children (except the toddler on her lap) are MoezArtians.  I have never worked box office before, and was relieved to find that it was not nerve wracking at all since I had a veteran MoezArt mom at my side.

Getting there early had its benefits, as Laurent saved us great seats in the second row.  When the lights went down, we closed up the box office and headed in to sit with our families.  The house was FULL, and buzzing with excitement!

After a few words from Madame Director, the house lights went down, the stage lights came up, and we were off.  I will just say this:  What a creative and talented group of people – including the cast of middle-and-high-schoolers, the tech crew, and of course, a really first rate director – that put this show together!!  The script started out as a straight melodrama, and ended up chock-full of music, singing, dancing, sound effects, slow-motion fight scenes – it was brilliant.  Color me impressed!!!

Here are a few pics from before the show…

And a few from after…

Because this is my blog, and I’m a mom, and mom’s do this kind of thing, you can expect yet MORE pics after the final show on Saturday.  I make no apologies.  🙂
