New Year’s Day Hike – Part V

Leaving that last bridge behind, as we continued on toward the stadium, we were suddenly faced with a surprising sight – a fence, where none is usually to be seen…

And all festooned with Tostito’s banners.  It was then that we remembered that today was the Fiesta Bowl game, and that it is no longer played down in Tempe, but right here in our very own Glendale stadium.  And we were walking right toward it!

We finally got past the bannered fences and caught a glimpse of the stadium up over the rise… and then we began to hear faint strains of music.  Walking further, the music grew louder and louder…

And finally we could actually see, just barely, the marching band as they practiced for their part in the show.

The necessariums.

Paul had gone on ahead, of course, which was too bad for him because he totally missed seeing the marching band.

Here we are, across the field from where all the action will soon take place.

Lots of people coming down around the stadium across the green…

(to be cont….)
