So, the big news around the Heidmann Hacienda yesterday was that Laurent got the job for which she had interviewed last week!! Thanks be to God, what a blessing. She will be working at the Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral school with Pre-K through first graders in the After School Enrichment Program, helping with homework and supervising snacks, etc. It’s a half time position, which will leave time for her to take a part-time load at ASU-West as well. We are so thankful for this provision!!
In celebration of this great news, I sat down at my computer and doodled up a fun edit on a photo of her that I took back in March at Paul’s birthday celebration. And then I worked on a few more for practice. I had some worse results and then learned from them and had some better results. Skin tone is tough to perfect with the rasterizing and blurring process… still not totally happy, but I’m making progress the more I get the hang of adjusting the curves. Here they are in the order I did them – including my first clean-edit, then the texture-added edits, then going back and re-doing a couple to try to improve on that skin-tone/layer opacity problem.

The next thing I have to learn is how to keep track of what edits I do on each photo, so if I want to reproduce that effect I wont have to re-invent the wheel.
