A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place

My sweet little Ellie. Sometimes things are just too much! This last week, school was a real challenge for her. Meltdowns were happening. It was not good. She ran away to hide in this cubby behind Daddy’s desk. When I came to talk to her, I asked her if she was having a lot of feelings. I said sometimes we need to find a safe place to hide until we feel better. She was so relieved! Everyone needs to be seen.

I suggested she get a pillow and blanket to make her snuggle spot more comfortable. She even changed out of her dress into comfy clothes as well.

She got some fench fried onions to snack on. As I was sitting at my desk nearby, she said quietly, “Mommy, I love you. Thank you for my feelings.”

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
