Seussical – Opening Night!

Seussical – Opening Night!

Yesterday began what will surely be a crazed and frenetic weekend to remember.

  • It began with school, as all days inevitably must.
  • Around 10:30 I had to leave to take Laurent to her final final — which wasn’t really a final, but more of a party day for the class.
  • She said the time slated was from 11am-12:50, but likely wouldn’t be nearly that long, so I brought along Geneva to keep me company.  After dropping Laurent at school, we bopped over to the neighborhood to drop off Lisa’s keys that she’d forgotten at our house the other day.  Then we moseyed to the QT and picked up a beverage.  Then we moseyed back to the college, and it was almost noon so I expected to imminently see my girl tootling down the sidewalk in her bright red cloche.  We drove around and around the parking lot, craning our necks each time we passed the pick-up spot, to no avail.  We parked.  We listened to a Handel Concerto Grosso.[hr color=”dark-gray” width=”100%” border_width=”2px” ]

    It was very peppy.

Then we heard Aaron Copland directing Buckaroo Holiday.

It was also very peppy.  Still no Laurent.

    We listened to some Tartanic.

    Incredibly peppy.

We listened to some Michael Buble.

    Slightly more relaxing.

  • Finally around 12:40, the little red cloche came bobbing down the sidewalk.  Apparently the party was a raging success.  This was her Linguistics class, and somebody brought the game Orijinz – Words & Phrases.  No wonder nobody wanted to leave early! 😀
  • At long last we headed for home – via another stop at QT because I barely had any gas and knew there would be a LOT of driving before I laid me down to sleep.
  • By then it was going on 1:30, and we had but a little while until it was time to prep for the evening.
  • I was so, so, SO proud of myself for how on-the-ball I was in getting everything, and everyONE, ready to go…
    • Printed out a map and directions for getting to the church across town
    • Made sure Jacob had shoes and a clean shirt on
    • Charged my camera battery
    • Made sure the camera had BOTH the battery AND the memory card
    • Borrowed a lens cap from Laurent for the evening (mine is long missing, probably at the ranch)
    • Made sure everyone had something to eat
    • Got us all out the door and in the car by 5:25, was beginning to back out of the driveway when I remembered “DOH! The Snicker’s bars and Root-Beer for the concessions stand!” and sent Geneva running back inside to retrieve them (along with a few dollars for buying candy-grams for Megan)
    • Drove two miles and was congratulating myself — out loud — when I paused mid sentence and gasped an horrendous gasp — “I forgot the tickets!!”
    • Looked at the dashboard clock and determined we would have to keep driving – Laurent needed to be at her rehearsal for a 5:45 starting time.
    • Dropped off my eldest, and raced back home for the tickets.
    • Still managed to be headed east before 6pm — and arrived (miracle of miracles) at 6:30 on the button!
    • Only discovered after we had been ushered in and seated in the third row (directly behind the Jezeks) that Jacob appeared to have three days worth of food all over his trousers.  Sigh.
  • The show was — WOW!!!  I don’t know why I keep being surprised by the quality of these MoezArt productions, but they keep raising the bar and then surpassing it once again.  So.Stinkin’.Much.Talent!!  I absolutely cannot WAIT till Saturday to see the grand finale!!
  • Here are some pics from before and after the show.

Hopefully many more pics to come on Saturday.
