Springtime in AZ! (pt.2)

Of course we arrived Thursday night in the dark, but that just makes driving in from the road that much more exciting.  The kids often say they would prefer if we drove at night all the time because it’s so much more interesting than driving during the day, when people’s heads are likely to be stuck in books, and no-one is communicating.  It’s true, once the sun goes down, the volume and sheer giddiness factor goes way up! 🙂  It wasn’t quite as much of a problem on this journey, at least for Jacob, because he had someone to chatter with the whole way.  The only drawback for me is that I have extremely poor night vision, and once the sun goes down, I’m a hurtin’ unit.  So glad I know those ranch roads and all their twists and turns like the back of my hand by now!

Friday morning we were up bright and early, ate some breakfast bars, brushed our teeth, and said our prayers.  Then we locked the doggies in the kennel, loaded up in the white van, and headed off for our adventure.

We stopped for drinks and beef sticks in town, and then drove up to the White Mountains for some hiking in the snow!  As soon as we parked the kids practically fell out of the van racing to grab some snow to throw.  Poor Arizona babies, they even tried to make a snowman.  It was a little pitiful.  We need to get them up to the mountains more often, when there’s REAL snow, so they know how to do it right!  Still, it’s hard to mess up snowball fights, and Paul even joined them in some good, clean, cold fun!
