A weekend at the ranch is all about refreshment and recharging. By leaving on Thursday, we had an extra day to fool around, hike, explore, and relax, and it was much needed. Jacob was beyond thrilled that he got to bring along his best buddy, Peter, for the weekend. It was three days of non-stop speed-talking between those two, and Geneva, who hung out with them most of the time as well (though I’m not sure she got a word in edge-wise).
The morning was spent organizing our gear, driving up north to Peter’s neighborhood to do our ranch-shopping at my new favorite store, Winco, then picking him up and racing home to finish packing before Paul got home from work. I was amused when we laid the guns out on the table to put them in their cases for the journey – it was just so very redneck! Lol! Mom says she wants to learn how to shoot straight, so we’re going to have to get her to a shooting range and get her some practice. The ride was fairly comfortable for everyone since we brought both mini-vans. Paul, the boys, Geneva and the dogs rode in the van with no-AC, while I drove in the comfort of my Minty cool green van with the older girls. Because we left mid-afternoon, we were in the Salt River Canyon at the perfect time of day for early-evening sunlight pictures of God’s beautiful creation, and a lovely spot for the dogs to stretch their legs too. Sadly, Megan slept through it all, but her cuteness was recorded for posterity.
