Readers of this blog have come to expect that, on any given Sunday, we will have between 10 and 20 kids at our house for the afternoon. Today was no exception to that rule, but there was an additional joy added to the mix that made today, well, exceptional. One of the things that Paul and I have lamented over the years has been that, for one reason or another, our lives have not included much at all in the way of adult socializing, particularly couple to couple. That is why our after church BBQ with the Jezeks was so very special today… of course our kids (our four, plus our neighborhood kiddos, and their ten) have already been enjoying one another’s company for many months in different venues, but today we were able to spend a relaxing afternoon with both Kevin and Laura, and it was a delight and refreshment to the soul to fellowship with them both, parent to parent, talking about church, children, homeschooling adventures, travels, and exploring a little bit of our pasts together. It brought to mind Psalm 133, which I can never think of without hearing our dear friend Wanda Sturlaugson singing, while her husband Stephan played the guitar,
“Oh how good and sweet it is, when brothers dwell in unity! Like the precious ‘nointing oil, on the beard of Aaron.”
Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of good fellowship (and beautiful memories of friends far off).
I sent my camera off into the trusted hands of my eldest, and Laurent snagged these precious few pics (I really must teach that one that less isn’t always more when it comes to photography!! More is almost always more, in my book! :-D).
