Another Halloween in the Memory Bank

Another Halloween in the Memory Bank

Yesterday was a giddy mess, but that’s what Halloween is supposed to be, and so much better than last year!

Our day began with hustling everyone into church clothes and heading off to Mass with Bishop Olmsted.

Then, home for a quick lunch featuring grilled Italian Sausage, carrot slaw with dried cranberries, chips and salsa. The rest of the afternoon involved a great deal of laundry waiting to be put away during the multitudinous and vastly creative procrastination techniques employed by my children, who I might add, in this respect are completely and utterly normal.

They were still “working” on that project when Paul returned from picking up Mama Ana, who joined us for the evening’s fun. Then we had a scant hour to try to get something nutritious into bellies that were only interested in CANDY, get them dressed for the adventure, take pictures, get the give-away cart set up out in the driveway, and send them on their way. This year the oldest three manned the candy store, and Paul and Ana took the youngest four around the neighborhood.

I didn’t get any “real camera” photos, but these phone-pics will suffice to show what manner of hooligans I sent out into the night: Little Ruben as the Black Panther, Ellie as a Cheerleader, Alyssa as a Skeleton, Efrain as the Grim Reaper, and of course, our resident Court Jester.

Now all that remains is to ration the candy at a reasonable flow… good luck, me.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
