Time for Pre-K?

With the rest of his siblings working on their computers for distance learning much of the day, I thought maybe it was time to do a little Pre-K workbook trial with Ruben – in between monitoring six google classrooms and timing their logins and uploading pictures of their assignments etc. etc. I could go on for days about the down sides of the distance learning model, but suffice to say, it is challenging, and makes focusing on little Ruben a bit tricky.

It seems fortunate, then, that he has such a short attention span that he doesn’t mind the incremental approach.

These pics were taken on the first day we attempted to do some workbook pages. While he is very able to recognize his letters and numbers and colors and shapes, he is completely disinterested in writing-prep types of activities. Following the dotted lines or connecting dots is ludicrous to him, and he will simply scribble wildly on those pages. But he does like to color, so that’s what we’re sticking with for now. And counting and lining things up. Good fun!

At four, it should be about fun.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
