Today I took Moley Meg to the doc and had a problematic mole removed from her shoulder. When you have a history of melanoma in your family, you don’t mess around with moles. I took my camera along and took some very interesting pictures of the process. I didn’t know if I would handle it well or not, but thankfully there was very little blood so it was really just fascinating to be able to watch and document the whole thing.
I recommend you pop this gallery out to full screen and make sure to read the captions for each photo. 🙂 (But not if you don’t like watching medical procedural shows on TV… this is kind of like that, but without all the romance.)

16 Jan 2012Brings back too many memories!!!! Glad she got it taken out! Praying that there’s no malignancy there!

17 Jan 2012Wow, that was a lot of flesh to remove for one little mole! I am very “moley” myself and have had several moles removed, all of them much larger than that one, but none of them required stitches! I did not see any captions, by the way. I have no idea how to access them. Meg has my sympathy. When I had moles removed, it was very painful for some time afterwards.

17 Jan 2012Yes, I’ve always wished I could be one of those tan people for whom the sun is a friend instead of a danger. Alas, I’ve passed my light European skin on to my kiddos. For the captions, you should be able to see a little italicized “i” in the upper left corner of the photos, that, when hovered over, will pop out the caption.
