New Years Day: First Photo Walk of the Year

New Years Day: First Photo Walk of the Year

Here’s a passel o’ pix from our walk at the AZ Center on January 1st.

We started out by meeting the Grands for a quick lunch at McDonalds. It was pretty cold out, and Grandpa’s back wasn’t feeling up to walking, so it was nice to sit and chat with them a bit over lunch before parting ways.

From there we headed over to the AZ Center. I had a dickens of a time figuring out where to park – it’s been too long since I was there I guess! We brought mom’s wheelchair so she could see the sights along with us, and she was chauffeured in style by several drivers. She may have been colder than the rest of us since she was sitting still, but at least she had an awesome scarf and nifty cap to keep her toasty! 🙂

Hanging around in the plaza, amongst the trees and water, I took the opportunity to snap some groups, some individual, and some sibiling shots with the oldest and youngest of my offspring.

More fun walking the mall, through the barren maze beneath a canopy of leaves, and out on the other side, where a lush, green slope invited children to roll upon the cool grass.

I made a valiant attempt at gathering the kids on the hillside for a group photo. The resulting mayhem was predictably hilarious, and certainly more interesting to photograph than perfectly behaved subjects. (Of which I’ve never, and will never, have any.  Et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.)

Then suddenly for a while I didn’t have my camera, and someone else did. And there were pictures of which I took nought, including some in which I found myself on the wrong side of the camera. Then I got it back again in time to capture my sillies taking selfies, which was a hoot. Then I lost it again, and Geneva got herself a boyfriend, to her sister’s horror. (I have raised an environmentalist tree-hugger!! Yay me!!) Megan got some great shots of her big li’l bro, there was a little more rolling around on the grass, and then we were ready to head home and get out of the chill.

Thanks, Laurent, for the great choice – I’ll always be up for a photo walk on your birthday!! 🙂
