I have been chastised for neglecting my updates here, so I need to rectify that oversight. I truly have been very busy this week, and it isn’t going to get any less busy until after Easter.
Today, for example, I got out of taking Jacob to Karate while the older girls went to shooting practice only because I had a 9-11am choir rehearsal (which, in case you were curious, was as always, extremely fun). Got home from that around 11:20, had time to bring in the mail and say hello to mother, eat several slices of Dave’s Spicy Pickles, load up Geneva and Megan, and drive them first to QT to pick up a snack, and then up north to their extra theater rehearsal, which is running noon to 5:30 today.
While I was doing my driving about, Paul was running his own mechanic’s workshop at home, doing three oil changes and one brake job on our vehicles. I had driven my nice, cool air conditioned van to rehearsal in the morning, so I had to leave that for him (and his trusty brake-bleeding assistant, Jacob) to do the brake job on and take the old cranky white van with it’s old-school convection style cooling mechanism to drive the girls. By the time I’d been driving it for an hour in the 90º temps, I was a little zapped and had to take a relax for a few minutes. Then it was time to take Laurent and do some Easter clothing shopping at Good Will (where they were having 50% off day). You absolutely never know what you will find there, and we were triumphant, finding skirts, tops, and dresses at bargain prices from $2.50 to a shocking high of $9.99. :-) From there we went to my favorite store where I did not get ANYthing like such good deals, but did find one colorful piece to complement my usual Sunday uniform of all black… and Laurent talked me into this matching piece of jewelry that makes me think of my Grandma Edna.
I made her model it for me as payback. 🙂
One more drive up north to pick up the girls at 5:30, back home, getting dinner prepped, and now a little relax time before we all make an early night of it in preparation for Palm Sunday!
I’m very happy to report that I’ve declared Easter Break for this week, just to relieve the schedule and make it a little less hectic and we can focus more on Holy Week services – Chrism Mass on Monday, rehearsal for the Easter Vigil on Tuesday, nothing Wednesday, Holy Thursday service, Good Friday, Easter Vigil on Saturday plus the final RCIA retreat, and then — Easter Sunday!
