Piano Man

Over the past couple of weeks,
The Boy
has been observing his sisters enthusiastically embrace their new instruments,
with a sense of bemusement,
thinking, as he has told me,

“What a lot of fuss about a bit of wood and wire…
and the noise they make… eeeesh…

He was quite adamant that he had no interest whatsoever in
playing any stringed instrument himself.

Good enough, I understand, and wouldn’t force something on him to which he isn’t suited.

HOWEVER:

That was not the end of our discussions on the subject of
music lessons,
for there is absolutely no denying that he has
a musical mind,
and ought to pursue something as an outlet
for all that music inside him.

Thus, I informed him today that
he will begin taking piano lessons from his Oma.
I told him that he will thank me in years to come,
when his skills allow him to make whatever music comes into his head.
He told me he was skeptical, but that he would
keep an open mind.

I can work with that.

Here he is having his first official piano lesson.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
