Sunday = Run-day (or Fun-day)

Sunday morning:

5:30 a.m. – get up
make coffee
wait for coffee to drip
mindlessly surf internet while waiting
drink coffee
shower and dress and all that jazz
remind kids to bring their overnight bags to church

dress themselves
do their own hair
pack their own bags
*
pack choir bag
purse
comfy shoes for after church
camera
extra batteries
7:40 a.m. – begin loading car
(mom staying home due to cold virus)
get all my bags, Laurent & Megan’s overnight bags, and the viola in trunk
trunk will not close
trunk will not close
trunk will not close
trunk finally closes
7:50 a.m. – stop at Lisa’s house
nobody answers the knock
head for church
7:59 a.m. – pull into parking spot
grab choir bag from trunk
let Megan close it because she has the touch
briskly walk to choir practice
8:50 a.m. head over to cathedral for mass
10:30ish – mass is ended
Paul drives away with Laurent, Geneva and Jacob in the car
drive back to house with Megan in white mini van

Laurent begins a 1500 piece puzzle

Geneva chills.

Fred (in the yellow), Jim, Dianne (visiting from ND), Jan, Paul, Muril & Betty (visiting from MN) and Mom
join Pat in the living room for some gab time
while waiting for Jon to arrive with JT, Joe and Jenna.

Jess had to stay home with Jadyn who had a fever.

During the hiatus, Megan spent most of the time in the laundry room preparing her secret gift for Grandma.

~*~*~*~*~
(She had asked me in the morning before church if I would write out the music to “Happy Birthday”
for her to play on the viola.
I continue to be amazed at her confidence and willingness to perform with no more than a couple of weeks of coaching from me!
I would never have dreamed of trying to perform a solo when I had been playing for 2 weeks!!
I obliged, however, and quickly wrote it out on a sheet of notebook paper so she could bring it along to Sun Lakes with her instrument –
and she practiced and practiced in that laundry room until she had it down,
and after dinner she overcame a sudden case of memory loss
and performed it brilliantly.)

Then suddenly, Jon & boys arrived,
followed soon after by Jess and Jadyn, whose fever had gone down,
so we were all able to celebrate
Mother Heidmann’s birthday together
(as families should).

It was particularly marvelous that Jess came,
because she brought most of the entertainment.
She has recently become a sales rep for a wig company,
and brought a couple along for
people to try…

Megan had a very hard time tucking her mass of thick wavy brunette hair underneath this short blond wig, but she HAD to try anyway!

Jacob sat outside the bedroom on the patio,
looking in through the open sliding glass door
at all the hoo-hah with the wigs,
munching his pizza in
bewilderment.

Joe, though disinterested in wigs,
had to come in and show off Jacob’s mad scientist goggles.

We already knew this one looked good as a blond!

This was a surprise –
I LOVE the bright highlights with her dark eyes and fair skin!

Can you tell where the wig ends and her natural hair begins?
This one turned out to be an EXACT match for Megan!

Fred looks like a long lost Beatle…

I think I like him better bald.

The grandmas laughing it up!

I like the blond on mom, but we’d have to trim those bangs. 😀

Later,
I did a mini glamour shoot  out by the lake when Megan put on a fancy dress….

Another grand time with family in Sun Lakes.

One bud from the
birthday/Valentines bouquet
Fred gave to his sweetheart.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
