With the winds picking up as the afternoon wore on, we saw mighty clouds menacing the horizon, which bore down upon us while we were attempting to finish our hot dogs around the campfire. One of the many things that goes along with camping is figuring out how to weight things down so they don’t fly away in a big blow! There was a bit of chasing going on as plates or napkins blew this way and that, and more than one fireside chair blew over as soon as it’s occupant left to retrieve something from the picnic table. It wasn’t the most relaxing supper, but the awesome clouds made up for it, and we speculated on how long we would get to stay by the fire before the rain hit. Not long. We had just enough time after eating to let off the two sparkle-fizzies we had left from last year before racing inside, and the evening ended with kids jabbering together by lamp light as their parents drifted off.
