Ants’hillvania!

What a GREAT SHOW!!!  Jacob’s stretch of flu midweek was quickly forgotten by Friday when he and Megan began getting themselves ready mid-afternoon.  Megan applied his base makeup and blush at home, and he got into his all black costume.  I took some brother sister pics because they looked so cute — and Jacob with his hair combed?? Once in a lifetime moment to capture!!

Dropped off my Thespian and his Assistant Stage Manager, along with Secret Intern Laurent at 5pm, and then mom, Geneva and I had to run to a nearby store to pick up the Snickers Bars and Root Beer we were slated to bring for concessions (my bad, I forgot to bring them early in the week like a proper MoezArt Mom… better late than never!).  Paul arrived right as the doors opened at 6:30 and we managed to get 2nd row seats for a fabulous view of the action.

I didn’t for sure know what to expect, since I’d only sat in on a part of one rehearsal before, and that was without mics, so I barely understood what was going on.  But WOW was it fantastic!  I loved seeing my boy up there, being a “song and dance man”!!  He played two characters, an ant in the first act, and his main role as Pa Spider in the second half.  He really took on the role, making the patriarch of the spider family funny, quirky and just a little bit sinister – the perfect mix for a kid’s production.  It was a great role for him because it did not require him to stand still much, and his constant motion played really well with his extra arms! 🙂

For the Saturday show, Jeff was able to join us, but Paul and mom were feeling the effects of the stomach flu, so they missed out on the grand finale performance.  It was simply splendid — I can’t get over how great the choreography was!  The dance numbers sparkled with energy and verve, and the young actors have so much charisma and spunk!  They’re all so talented and the directing team really knows how to get the best out of everyone.  I’m very proud to know them all, and delighted for my kids to have this opportunity to be involved with such a quality group of creative people!!
