Tech Week #1

Tech Week #1

It is Wednesday, and that means we have reached the halfway point in what is the first of two back-to-back production weeks for our family.  Tonight is the final tech rehearsal for the Glendale MoezArt middle school cast’s show, Ants’hillvania – a Musical!  Jacob is performing, and Megan is the assistant stage manager, and they both tell me rehearsals are going superbly.

I’ve been enjoying my evening drive to pick them up (usually not finished until after 9pm) as Jeff likes to ride along with me.  We listen to KBAQ and play “guess the composer.”  Monday night we were both bamboozled by a piece we both had played, but for some reason we both thought it was Tchaikovsky.  Turned out to be Dvorak. Doh!!  I always lose at that game, but there’s no excuse for Jeff! 😉

(Although to be fair, they both composed a Serenade for Strings….)

But oh, how I digress…. what was I talking about?

Oh yes, tech week numero uno.  Yup.  So last night, because it was shopping day, and because we were going to be half a mile from Winco, I decided to bring mom and Laurent along when I took Megs and Bub to rehearsal.  We left a little early so we could stop at QT and pick up a little supper for everybody.  They have extremely tasty sandwiches, with excellent multi-grain bread. So I was all proud of myself for making sure they had something nutritious before heading off to a four hour rehearsal.  Came to pick them up, and Jacob trudged out near collapse – he’d gotten sick and thrown up toward the end of their second run-through!  Poor guy… I guess that extremely tasty and nutritious sandwich had passed it’s sell-by date or something.  It was a none-too pleasant ride home for him, either.  He rolled into bed right away when we got home, and today has been gradually regaining his strength.  Thankfully we have the whole day at home for him to recuperate.  I’m pretty sure he’ll be back in fine form by tonight, but I’m definitely feeding him at home before we leave.

  1. Makes for a full week around this house, I must say! So sorry Jacob came home sick….but that happens, eh? Am eagerly waiting to see this performance! Sounds like it will be fun! And, as for the “Guess the Composer” game…I ALWAYS lose!!!!
