A Little Afternoon Musicke

A Little Afternoon Musicke

Although it wasn’t Nachtmusik that we were making around the house this afternoon, here’s some of Mozart’s famous hit for your enjoyment.

The girls were inspired this afternoon to get out their instruments and do a little practice.  They’ve taken too long a break, and it was definitely good to hear the dulcet tones of their scales once again!  I had a job tuning them, (and re-tuning, as is typical when an instrument is out of practice) – and when Mother heard them from down the hall, she was inspired herself to come out and get out her cello as well!  The musical enthusiasm was truly wonderful – it sounded like “home” as I heard KBAQ wafting down the hallway from mother’s room, a violin off in my bedroom practicing, a viola across the house, and a cello in the main area.  Just like when we were kids.  I can’t wait for the day when the girls will be ready to play some duets and trios.

  1. Well, it was indeed a “mark the calendar” day for me….I’d been looking at my cello in the corner by the front door for so long…and this was the day I decided to get up on my TWO feet and with the aid of my cane, I hauled it over to the piano to get it out and check its’ condition….surprised that it was more “in tune” than I had feared…except for my C string…the peg of it slips and needs chalking to get it to hold….so with the help of the girls, I managed to do that and it seems to be holding…for now! Great to get it out and do some scale work again!
