Blessed are we to be the new owners of this beauteous
1993 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale
which we found just a quarter mile down the street!
The great part is,
it was only $1,500 — which means we can afford to fix it.
Right after I took these pics,
we drove it over to the emissions repair shop.
Geneva in the driver’s seat –
vainly imagining that she will ever be able to reach the pedals. ๐
The interior is very clean.
It will NEVER be this clean again,
so I’m glad I got a picture
to commemorate it.
Pretty.
The naming competition is in full swing – want to join the fun?

5 Feb 2011I drove an 88 back in the late 70’s when I was still living with my parents. We actually had an 88 and a 98! Hope you enjoy it!

6 Feb 2011I think it will be a good car for us. We just got a call from the shop – they said it is in really good condition, and there is only one small thing they need to fix – parts and labor will be under $200. So this is a pretty fantastic deal!!

6 Feb 2011Can we name it Zanzibar buck-buck McFate?
Or can we not do that, because it’s too late? ;D
Or maybe just plain old “Car”…..

6 Feb 2011Tut-tut, young Heidmann, you KNOW that “Car” has already been used for your father’s first car! ๐
It looked something like this, only it was grey:

7 Feb 2011I still hold to the opinion that we call her “Yvaine.” It is a pretty name!

7 Feb 2011Yes it’s pretty… but a rather obscure reference… can you clarify?

7 Feb 2011Weeeellllllll, in that movie “Stardust,” Yvaine was a star, and the car looks like a star, it’s star colored. Besides, in that movie, her dress was almost this color…..

7 Feb 2011I sympathize with your instinct to give a pretty car a pretty name. It remains to be seen if you can manage to persuade your father…
