Portraits in the Park, and a Visit with Rellies

Portraits in the Park, and a Visit with Rellies

Today we drove to the eastern edge of the world to see Grandma in her brand new house, and it was Worth.It. What a beautiful place God has provided for her! It will be plenty roomy enough for all our big family gatherings, as today proved out.

When we arrived (after making about 3 wrong turns before finally arriving at the right house) it was already close to noon, but nobody was home. We sat around outside for a little bit, tried calling her only to discover she’d left her phone at home, and decided to go to a nearby park until she got back.

We were only at Red Mountain Park for a few minutes when we got a call from her, but it was long enough for the kids to get out some wiggles on the jungle gyms and twirly things, while I snapped a few pics down by the lake.

On the way back we picked up some pizza for lunch.

I knew that Grandpa’s brother, Roland, and Aunt Joyce were in town visiting Grandma, so I expected to see them – but was surprised to meet several other family members. It was lovely to see Grandpa’s brother, Jim and his wife Jan looking so well, in addition to a couple of cousins and spouses. If my count is right there were 22 of us – but with ample patio seating and a very roomy entertaining area inside, it felt so spacious and relaxed, even for me, the no-crowds person.

I know we will have some epic family time there in the years to come. God is so good.
