- First thing, I discovered there was no coffee in the house. Since Laurent was equally desperate for the bean, it was not difficult to convince her to drive me to Safeway. Once there, we proceeded to buy not just coffee beans, but an entire cart full of groceries. Because we never waste a trip to the store. Gas is gold.
- Came home to find hubby out in the garage finishing up the fixing of our new scale. Words cannot express my gratitude at finding out that it had been weighing me at 24 lbs. too heavy!!!
- Drove to Network Alignment in the Olds while Paul drove Minty Van, which needed the power steering fixed again only a few days after supposedly having it fixed early in the week. Then we proceeded to Auto Zone to get supplies for 3 oil changes.
- Drove home and Paul changed the oil in the Olds.
- Went for a lunch date with my sweetie.
- Got dropped off at my favorite clothing store to take another stab at some wardrobe replacement items. Paul, for some inexplicable reason, felt the need to go to Auto Zone again, rather than coming in and watching me shop.
- Spent some time being rather dizzied by the choices, but as there was a 40% discount on everything in the store today, I got some good deals.
- Home for a little while, got cleaned up, relaxed for a while while Paul changed oil on Jimminy, put down poison around the exterior of the house to kill the ants, and then went for a walk. (He never seems to run out of energy!)
- We both got dressed and headed off to church for a volunteer appreciation dinner. We stopped on the way to pick up the newly fixed Minty van and continued in both vehicles.
- Just as I was turning into the church parking lot, a huge cloud of smoke came billowing out of the back end of Minty, and simultaneously the power steering was gone. I managed to limp into a parking space, still billowing smoke.
- Apparently, whatever they fixed, came unfixed. And then some.
- Had a lovely time at the dinner, visiting with some of Paul’s fellow Vincentians.
- After dinner Paul took me over to the St. Vincent de Paul building for a little tour so I could see how the operation works. Very interesting.
- Happily turned the job of driving Minty home over to my more muscular husband and followed him home in Blue.
- Tomorrow we will take Minty back to the shop. This time, they will fix it right.
- That is all.
