Milestone

It is appropriate, as the years go by, that certain milestones, or momentous achievements, are duly noted.  Today one such milestone was achieved.

As I pulled up to the curb at Glendale Community College, I said “Goodbye sweetie!  Have a great time!” and watched my oldest child heft her backpack into place, and turn to stride  purposefully away, eyes bright, grinning into the future.  I inched the car forward, craning to watch her in the rearview mirror as I turned around the corner, and suddenly caught my breath as the tears welled up.  I was unprepared for emotion to hit with such force.  As I rolled toward the exit, her entire 16 years of life flashed before my eyes from which the tears freely fell, and I was overwhelmed with gratitude.  Gratitude for the time we have had together by God’s grace, and for the competent, confident young lady she has become – again, all by God’s grace.

Thanks be to God.   As your father and I have always prayed, so we continue:

God make you a blessing, wherever He sends you.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!

  1. Yes, indeed! My prayer for her is her Great Grandfather’s phrase: “Blessings be upon you!” And I have a certainty they will!
