Lisa’s Birthday – The Back Yard

Oh what a glorious day.  Absolutely full, starting with arriving early at church for the  8:00 a.m. Rosary prayer meeting in the courtyard outside the cathedral for an end to abortion (four Heidmann kiddos and Mother attended from our clan, while I was at choir rehearsal and Paul was doing his rounds picking up kids to come to Mass).  Then a service which included the First Scrutiny (a rite especially for the catechumens – those going through membership class who have not yet been baptized).  I always enjoy the services even more when there are additional Gregorian chants included, as there were today — and tonight when I was asking Jeff about getting music somewhere online for the Salve Regina (most everyone else knows it from memory but I have never seen the music so I’m a bit on edge trying to sing along on that one) Jeff gave me the link for the Liber Usualis – and now I’m in my absolute heavenlies because I can print out ANYthing (or everything, had I but enough paper…) I like!

Anyway — great morning worship, followed by lunch with the Gonzales and Barnella kids, Grandma and Grandpa (who came to church with us today for their last Sunday in AZ) and Carol and Lynn from the RCIA team (Lynn is also my sponsor) with whom we regularly break our fast after Mass.

Then we all loaded up and Paul took the kids home, I dropped Mom and two girls off as well, and then took Laurent with me to Safeway to pick up some fixin’s for a wee birthday celebration for Lisa, who is 19!!   She’s come a long way since we met her back at Westfork Church, where this picture was taken when she was about 13:

When we got back there were happy children riding bikes,
happy children on computers,
and happy children in the back yard,
jumping on the trampoline.

I sent out a camera,
and had scads of fun with all the pics that came back,
some of which
these
are.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
