Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Yesterday afternoon Geneva had the opportunity to perform in her first full-blown recital, and she did a fantastic job. She played 12 Variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je maman” – by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a.k.a. the Twinkle Twinkle variations, and what impressed me most was that she had it fully memorized (even though her teacher was there, turning pages for her, I don’t think she glanced at the music once). I was thrilled, too, with her poise and ability to recover when she suffered a few minor stumbles. Stumbling happens to everybody, in any sort of art form that involves live performance. Being able to get back on track and maintain momentum is part of what defines a good performer. I’ll make no bones about it, I’m one proud mama.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!
