Over the course of the last week, most of the family (everyone except Jacob, I think) got a chance to see the extravagantly sumptuous new Kenneth Branagh movie, Cinderella, and by now, you have probably heard or read many glowing reviews. I am going to be brief in my words, but today’s pocketses contain a few choice reviews that examine it’s virtues in more detail.
What I want to say is that it is Beautiful. My eyes were filled up to the brim and overflowing with the beauty, from the smallest details to the grandest vistas. I want to say that it is Good. That is, that Goodness really triumphs in this story – not only because there is a happy ending, but in the darkest of moments, it is her charity, her courage to be kind, that provides the light for our heroine. And it is True. Fairy Tales, when they are told the right way, tell us something about Truth, and this time, they got it right.
So without further ado, here are the reviews that I loved about this movie that I loved, beginning with my favorite (and oh, it was hard to choose a favorite!) – from my teenage daughter, Geneva.
