Happy Birthday, Dear Mother-In-Law!

On Saturday we had a casual family gathering in Sun Lakes to celebrate my Mother In Law, Patricia – matriarch of our family, who today turns 75. I don’t know how she came by such good genes, she hasn’t aged in the last 20 years at least!

Jess and I followed our tradition of kicking Ma out of the kitchen and bringing some international flair to the meal. With some assistance from Laurent, we threw together a Mexican repast with build-your-own shredded pepper-chicken burritos,  home made guacamole, salsa, beans and rice, and Jessica’s Tres Leches cake for dessert (I don’t have her specific recipe at my fingertips, but there are lots on the internet – this one just had a really nice picture! :-D).

There was relaxing around the house, snapping some pix by the orange tree with Geneva, lots of unphotographed trips to Basha’s (I kept discovering things we’d forgotten to bring — including my camera’s memory card!), and after lunch, a fun walk around the lakes. As always, Family Time is important! And we cherish all these memories and the time we get to spend together… too soon our older kids will be gone building their own homes, and these together-times will be increasingly rare.
