I loved this post on St. Peter’s List so much, I wanted to post it here, for myself and for others who might benefit. In it you will find reflections on ten simple prayers that anyone can offer, any time. I also loved his use of this image, which hung upon our dining room wall all the years I was growing up, and always reminds me of the prayerful atmosphere my parents created in our home. What a blessing that we were taught from our earliest days, by precept and even more importantly, by example, how to pray. I’m so thankful for a Godly heritage, and pray that I will be more and more faithful to continue that heritage for my children and my children’s children.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!

26 Jan 2015I so enjoyed your posting of this picture! Having had it, as you said, in our dining room for so many years, I have missed it. And the article with the prayers was also very helpful and good. Thanks for sharing this!

26 Jan 2015Super cool! The constant saying of a one-sentence prayer is especially popular with our Eastern Rite brothers and sisters, the favorite being: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.” (the Jesus Prayer). I hope to find a way to get myself in a similar habit! 🙂 “pray without ceasing” 1 Thess. 5:17

27 Jan 2015Indeed! People always used to weep through the Kyrie at Mass. Wish I had more of that humility nowadays!
