Life flies by so quickly during the holiday season, it’s hard to keep up. Last week’s celebrations included Mom’s 75th birthday, a family thanksgiving, a Victorian Christmas Ball, and a quick trip to the ranch to celebrate thanksgiving with our neighbors there.
It has been many years since we had such a small group in our home to celebrate Thanksgiving. Jon and Jessica and their family had a large gathering in the East Valley, and our other usual suspects had plans of their own as well, but we were blessed to have Grandma and Grandpa Heidmann join our eleven for the day, bringing our happy number to 13.
I loved the chance to relax with family around the table, and use my china (that’s difficult to do for a party when there are 30 people in the house). I don’t even have any table decorations for the season, but just using real tableware made the day feel elegant.
Pics from the day (for captions, click the i up top!).
I can’t even begin to enumerate all that God has done this year, and for which I am filled with gratitude. His care is constant, his provision sure, and his love without measure, and yet, I am still surprised by his answers to prayer! It always makes me feel very small and humble when that for which I have prayed and yearned and wept, yet hardly dared to hope, is handed to me with a fatherly flourish when I least expect it! I realize this is purposely vague — something I ordinarily deeply dislike; but the weight of this gratitude will not allow me to remain silent. I eagerly await the day when I can reveal all, for there will be much rejoicing! 🙂
