August in Minnesota: A Brief Interregnum – Part 2

August in Minnesota: A Brief Interregnum – Part 2

One of the most delightful serendipities of changing the dates of this trip up north was the fact that we were in town during the annual Concordia College Cobber Corn Feed!  It’s been a regular tradition for our family since Jeff started college there 30-some years ago (and yes, that makes me feel tremendously old, but it is what it is).  In addition to plenty of fun and games for the kids – bouncy houses and slides, balloon animals, a train and face paint, the school provides free corn-on-the-cob, sells burgers and brats, all accompanied by excellent live country music.  People can bring whatever else they want to accompany their corn.  We usually opt for KFC, and this time Jeff sprang for a giant spread for the clan.

Here are pics of the festivities, including a great shot of nephew Tim cheekily posing with the Cobber mascot, while wearing his Moorhead State University Dragons T-shirt (he attends “the other” Moorhead college! 😉 ). Also featured are: the beautiful campus clothed in the verdant green of late summer, a cobber dude clothed in not much more than a funny hat and body paint, plenty of family frivolity, a man with a very excellent bike, and last but not least, a shot of Vicki and Jeff at the theater where we went to escape the heat and humidity once we’d had all the corn we could stomach (except that Jeff bought popcorn, which was totally unnecessary at that point in the evening!).
