A few years ago,
when we were working in a non-denominational inner city mission church,
part of our ministry there was to run a small food bank
for parish families in need.
An anonymous family generously began to donate toward
that effort,
and since then,
though we are now in a different church,
they have continued the practice of donating
– through us –
to the needs in our area,
which are substantial.
Being part of a church the size of Sts. Simon & Jude,
which houses St. Vincent de Paul
right on the campus,
is a wonderful opportunity for us to join with others
in living out the Gospel.
Yesterday we were blessed to spend
some of that donated money
on food to give to
SVdP.
We made our shopping excursion a family event,
and despite the pouring rain,
or more probably because of it,
had a blast.
Megan was the photographer for the day,
and chronicled our adventures at
Wal-Mart,
and then unloading in the rain at church.
(And I used her pics as an opportunity to play with my new
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, which I believe I am
going to LOVE, especially after I read
the book I just ordered.)
