A New Addition To The Family

A New Addition To The Family

I am so-so-SO excited to tell you this news!!  A couple of months ago we sat down for an interview with CPS to start the process to become foster parents to a precious little 2-year-old boy.  After that, we didn’t hear anything from them, and had really no idea whether the process was moving forward, and if we were even still being considered.  Well, late yesterday afternoon, I got a call from the CPS worker to let us know that they wanted to transition Junior to our home today!

Oh my, that set my world a-spinning!!  Everyone was fairly flying with the news, and today at high noon, our new little guy walked through the door.

We’ve known him since he was born, so he was familiar with all of us. Still, it was not unexpected when he had a little bit of a tough time right after they left.  He was inconsolable at first, wailing on the floor by the door, but then Daddy-Paul sat right down next to him and started reading him a story (the one remaining Arch Book we have from when the kids were little, the one about Noah’s Ark) and he calmed down to listen to the soothing voice and rhyming words.  After that, he was ready for some graham crackers with peanut-butter and honey, and that set his world quite to rights.  Soon he and Paul were playing with his toys, reading “There’s A Wocket In My Pocket”, and finally there were gales of laughter as he flew up in the air, spun around, and bounced on the couch.  By then we knew he was completely comfortable.  However, when the older girls returned from Megan’s noon class, he clung to Megan like a drowning man who has found a buoy!  Those two have always had a special bond, there’s no explaining it.  🙂

With everyone finally home, we sat down to our first meal together, and that little guy had three servings of lunch!  Guess he was really hungry!  I was amused at the state of his chair when we were done — it’s been a while since we were in the food-all-over-the-floor stage.  Here we go again! 🙂

We thank the Lord for blessing us so greatly with this opportunity to love and care for Junior, for however long he may be with us.  He will be treasured and loved by his big sisters and brother, by a foster grandma and uncle, and definitely by Daddy Paul and Mama Nettie.
