Walk Like a Mathematician

Walk Like a Mathematician

Paul asked me if I had used the GPS on my walk this morning, and I said, “Don’t need it — I know exactly how far I walk because I just go in a big rectangle.”

It made me ponder the difference in our approach to walking. I am all about straight lines and precise distances, while he is much more whimsical, circuitous and adventuresome (at the ranch, we call that “following a cow path”). I was briefly baffled by his lack of preference for the grid format in his walks, until it dawned on me – he’s a mathematician!  He’s walking in fractals!!  😀

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!

    1. I feel like I’ve just traveled through Rodney McKay’s enhanced stargate link through the entire universe.
