The Epic Party of Paul

The Epic Party of Paul

It cannot be overstated how delightful it is to plan and execute a party.  Especially when the guests are new friends.  Especially when you know there will be a whole houseful.  Today was no exception.  The only drawback of the day was that my coughing got so severe while driving everyone to church that I had to make a run to Walmart to pick up some cough medicine to get me through the morning.  I never really know for sure what is going to work when I have bronchitis, but when I saw that Mucinex had a few different cough syrups, I thought that had to be the ticket.  Oh. My. Word.  Please, if you ever take this cough syrup, plan to have a chaser of ANYTHING ready to wash it down.  It is THE vilest thing.

However, it’s kind of a miracle cure, as I barely coughed for the rest of the morning!  I even got to hold Efrain all the way through the homily, and he was an angel.

After mass, we picked up Lisa (who had not heard the phone when I called this morning to wake her so she could come with us) and did a quick breakfast at BK, then made a mad dash to the grocery store for the salad dressing I’d forgotten to buy (and some candles) and then home to begin setting out all the fixin’s for our taco salad buffet.  Very shortly, Laura Jezek and her ten gorgeous kiddos marched through the door, and pandemonium ensued for the remainder of the afternoon.

I am always amazed at the kinds of pictures that show up on my camera after I’ve been sitting and chatting with the adults for a while as we allow the tornadic activity to whirl around us virtually unchecked.  The kids very obviously had had nothing short of an epic afternoon together.

It was a wonderful and memorable 45th birthday for my dear husband, and a fabulous excuse to enjoy some beautiful fellowship.  Thanks be to God.

  1. Yes! What a marvelous party! Actually the entire weekend was MAHHVELOUS, DAHLING! Great job, Nettie, in all the decorating of the living area..fantastic work! And the party today…great people/family…and as I said once or twice this afternoon, “What a ‘gaggle of girls'”!

    1. The boys were decidedly outnumbered in that gathering, but they managed to hold their own and have a completely Star-wars-centric afternoon. 😀

  2. Oh! I have to add that the pics of me with little Efrain (Malinda’s boy) are to MARK THE DATE! He has never let me hold him like that before…always fussed and shied away…but today he accepted me! Great!
