Locked Out

We came home from church to an unfortunate surprise today.  Someone had oh-so-cleverly locked the handle of the front door.  We have no key for this handle of the front door.  I was driving home with our four kids plus Malinda and her bambino, while Paul was driving his Gonzales crew home, so I tried phoning him to find out a) how far he was from home, and b) if he had a key for that lock.  I got no answer, and I thought he might be visiting for a while with the Gonzales family, so we had to get resourceful.

It was agreed that Megan, as the tallest, the limberest, the strongest, and the only one wearing a cat burglar outfit under her Sunday attire, should be the one to go over the fence, around to the back and in through the sliding glass door to open up the front.  Having settled that, we first tried just giving her a boost – but that was a bust… none of us being great burly football players, we couldn’t quite provide the support required for the endeavor.  Then we tried using the little bench from beside the front door – but she found once she was looking over that it was much farther down on the other side of the fence, and just plain too hard and scary.

So then we carried the bench around to the other side of the house by the gate (which of course is padlocked, and of course I don’t have a key for that either) and using the bench to step onto the recycling dumpster, she was able to climb over – and thus our cat burglar saved the day, and the precious little baby did not have to sit outside in the heat for more than about 10 minutes.

Now, of course, we are going to have to be extra double triple sure we always lock that back sliding door… and that we DON’T lock the front door handle!!

  2. I think it is hilarious that you were taking pictures while all this was happening. Also can I please have Megan’s figure. WOW!

    1. I know, I’m indispensable when it comes to emergencies! Lol!! And yes, but remember, she’s 15. She hasn’t had umptidy babies yet… 😀

    2. Have you guys ever watched “Leverage”? We are LOVIN’ Parker. She was very Parker today! 😀

    3. Is that the blond gal that does all the “gymnastics”?

    4. Yes, she actually IS the cat burglar of the team and is always doing daredevil stunts, jumping off buildings and crawling through tunnels and doing cartwheels instead of just running like a normal person. Loads of fun and slightly psychotic. 😀
      She’s our fav!
