Renaissance Festival Student Day – Part 8

The final pics of our excursion — and what an excursion it was.

The jousting tournament finally finished, and the aforementioned hoards of humanity came forth from the arena, in a mad crush.  The royalty, whom I had been attempting to photograph all day, were coming towards me, and I tried to capture some good images, but man, they move so fast!  I don’t know how they do it carrying all those heavy costumes, either, but they do not mess around.  Wherever they are headed, they are on a mission!

At last, I found Geneva with Elizabeth, beside the troubadours, putting on a little show of their own.

Then more sights and sounds, including a nice couple playing the hammered dulcimer, a harpist upon whom I could not resist bestowing a heavenly glow, then we found Megan, and then (Oh Glory and Relief) I had a chance to sit down for the first time in 4 hours, while listening to the fantastic bagpipe band, Tartanic. Loved their fusion of sounds and bought two cd’s.

While I was enjoying some fish and bagpipes, the girls ran off to the archery range, and later I found them giggling their faces off at the Insulter (where, once again, I was thankful for the restraints placed upon the staff for age-appropriate humor!).  After watching him get pelted with tomatoes for a while, we made our way to the exit.

As we approached the gate, I could not resist one last photo of what for me, for most of the morning, was the most elusive sign in the whole place…

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!

  1. Some day I hope to get to go to that faire. It looks wonderful! And so much bigger than ours! Meanwhile, though, I love the intimacy of our local faire and the delight of making friends that I see from year to year. I’m glad you all had a good day.

    1. Oh I didn’t see that you commented here! My system isn’t sending me notices for some reason… yeah, it was a great day. My legs were aching to the bone for the next two days, but I’m recovered now. 😀 Hope it wont be 4 more years before we get a chance to go again!
