Today has been a run around day for Nettie. Well first it started with a 9am appointment with our Catholic Charities licensing agent. That was extremely informative, and I’m glad we are having these little chats once a week for the first four weeks of our license. There’s a lot to talk about, especially as we look to the future and the possibilities of helping other children.
Anyway, around noon I got a call that God-daughter Lisa needed to go to Urgent Care — something about her throat closing up and having a hard time breathing. It sounded like an allergic reaction, but she couldn’t think of anything she’d eaten that produced such an effect, so it was a mystery. So I quick ran to take her to a doctor and then came home because the girls were about to leave for work and I couldn’t leave the little boys with Geneva in charge because – hello – we’re licensed now, and they’re picky about care givers being over 18, even for a short period of time. That meant that later when Lisa was finished, I had to load them all in to come along with me to pick her up. Turned out to be a strep infection! If she’d just said she was having a sore throat I would have guessed!
Anyway, that was trip number two of the day. Number three was the usual jaunt to church to take Geneva to SVdP. Again, with all the littles in the car for the ride.
Number four was around 7:30 when Paul called to tell me that Joann and Jovi and Cisco were stuck at Phoenix Children’s hospital and needed a ride home. This time, Megan was home so I didn’t have to bundle everyone on board for the drive. So I went to PCH, loaded them up and drove first Cisco to his uncle’s place; and then Joann back home, where we met up with Paul, Geneva and Laurent, who had stopped by on their way home from SVdP. Jovi was happy to see “Pa!!” and reached for him as soon as he saw him and snuggled up on his shoulder, wiped his snotty nose, and shmeared it down Paul’s face. It was a beautiful thing.
Finally we got home again, and discovered that Junior had an atrocious evening, beginning his meltdown shortly after I left the house and going straight on through till we got back. Poor Megan was very overwhelmed. I decided to take her out of the house for a while for a little relaxing drive around the west side. We talked about what is up with our little man, and decided that my being gone so much today and all the driving around had thrown him off his groove, he would benefit from some one-on-one time with mommy, so I will be taking him out for a little breakfast date tomorrow morning. Keep him in prayer, and pray for us that we can find out what he needs and provide it.
So that’s my update for today. May tomorrow be calmer! 🙂
I’ll leave you with a pic I took tonight as the moon was rising. I’m going to learn how to take a better night shot if it’s the last thing I do, but I was pretty happy with the way this turned out.
