The Big 18

The Big 18

Last week a very momentous milestone was reached in the Heidmann family.  Megan Olivia reached voting age!

In lieu of a party on her actual birthday, Paul took the family out for dinner to Westgate Which Wich (which, if you haven’t been there, has DA BEST sandwiches EVAHH!).

The real party, however, came on Friday.  Megan chose a small handful of friends to invite for an afternoon-evening party, and with some assistance from her sisters, prepared the menu:

Pepperoni Crescent Rolls, with Marinara or Ranch for dipping
Sushi and Shrimp Cocktail
Tortilla Chips, with Honey Chipotle, Verde, and Lime Garlic Salsas, plus Blue Cheese Dip for good measure
Taco Salad Bar
Bubbly Punch
Cookie Dough Ice Cream with Caramel and Chocolate Syrups for topping

You may note that there was no cake on her menu. Her choice, she preferred ice cream for dessert. 🙂

The girls who came for the party arrived around 2 pm, and there were games around the dining room table, and laughter and fun, and later the one boy who could make it arrived and there was more laughter and fun. (I got to chat with his mom, who came along as they were on their way to a theatrical event after stopping at the party, and it was great to get to know another MoezArt mom!)

Pics from around the game table, in both black and white and color, just for the fun of it.

After Josh left (and Jacob returned to the world of Minecraft) there was more girly fun, with makeup and nail art and massages and Pilates and sometime during the evening, the watching of the first Anne of Green Gables movie, and finally all the girls were gone except Brittany and Bethany, who stayed overnight. Though Paul and I had to leave at 8 am the next morning to go to our class, the girls had a yummy breakfast of Quiche when they got up, and Megan got back from driving Bethany home after we returned from class, and Brittany stayed a little longer. I believe, and have heard nothing to the contrary, that Megan’s 18th birthday was a rousing and very satisfying success, and I am thankful, so thankful for the blessing of her first 18 years in our family.  Love you, Megan Olivia!!

  1. Yes…a rousing success indeed! It was fun to have them all here and listen to their laughter and jabbering…but I remained mostly back in my corner of the “world”…enjoying from a-distance!
