Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

This week I have been sitting in my recliner chair in the living room most of the time, and it has given me the opportunity to contemplate my surroundings, including in particular, one piece of my own artwork that hangs on the living room wall.  A long time ago, I did several reproductions in pastel chalk of works by one of my favorite artists, Georgia O’keefe.  Here is my version of  “Autumn Leaves – Lake George, N.Y.”  There are variations in color and intensity in the images of her oil paintings that one finds online, and I have a couple of examples here for comparison.  I remember that I worked from a photo in a coffee table book, though I lost it somewhere along the way.  The first two are images of the original, and the last is mine.  The more I contemplate it, the more I think I want to try it in oil, or maybe acrylic.

I homeschooled four kids all the way through high school and then fostered/adopted 7 more children. I am wife to a very smart mathematician; I dabble in photography, write and sing, paint in bright colors, and love being Catholic!

  1. Oh…I love this…fall being my favorite season ( at least up north!)…love the colors…so you have my permission , should it be needed, to proceed with any further artistic rendition of this work!
