{"id":9713,"date":"2013-08-08T16:39:54","date_gmt":"2013-08-08T23:39:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nettiesworld.com\/?p=9713"},"modified":"2017-06-28T22:11:23","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T05:11:23","slug":"jacobs-first-quiche","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/?p=9713","title":{"rendered":"Jacob&#8217;s First Quiche"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we had yet another culinary adventure.\u00a0 Jacob made his first Quiche!\u00a0 I looked at bunches of recipes, and finally made one up on the fly.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure there will be subsequent modifications, but if you want to experience the original version, here&#8217;s the recipe.<\/p>\n<p>[hr color=&#8221;dark-gray&#8221; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2px&#8221; ]<\/p>\n<p>[box style=&#8221;gray note shadow&#8221; ] <a href=\"http:\/\/adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130808_031907copy1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-9717\" alt=\"20130808_031907copy1\" src=\"http:\/\/adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130808_031907copy1-600x400.jpg\" width=\"432\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130808_031907copy1-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130808_031907copy1-270x180.jpg 270w, https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130808_031907copy1-1140x760.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Jacob&#8217;s First Quiche<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Filling:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1 small carrot, shredded<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup finely minced onion<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp. minced garlic<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp. butter<\/li>\n<li>1 small zucchini, shredded<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Seasonings:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Italian Herbs<\/li>\n<li>Parsley<\/li>\n<li>Cavender&#8217;s Greek Seasoning<\/li>\n<li>Coarse Ground Pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Custard:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>8 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 pint heavy cream<\/li>\n<li>1 cup milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[hr color=&#8221;black&#8221; width=&#8221;75%&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2px&#8221; ]<\/p>\n<h3>Directions:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on oven to 375\u00b0F.<\/li>\n<li>Shred carrot, zucchini and cheese.<\/li>\n<li>Mince onion (and garlic, if not using prepared minced onion).<\/li>\n<li>Saute shredded carrot, minced onion and garlic with all the seasonings till onion is translucent and carrots tender.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat.<\/li>\n<li>Whisk to combine eggs, heavy cream and milk until thoroughly mixed.<\/li>\n<li>Press 1 large size package of crescent roll dough into pie plate to form crust.<\/li>\n<li>Spread half the shredded cheese over bottom of crust.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon sauteed veggies over the cheese.<\/li>\n<li>Spread shredded zucchini over the sauteed veggies.<\/li>\n<li>Cover with remaining shredded cheese.<\/li>\n<li>Pour custard over all until pie plate is nearly full &#8212; do not overfill.<\/li>\n<li>Place pie plate on cookie tray in case of overflow.<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 375 for 45 minutes, or until edges are firm and browned, and center is raised but still a little jiggly.<\/li>\n<li>Cool for at least 15 minutes if serving warm, before slicing.\u00a0 Cover and chill 3-4 hours, or overnight if serving cold.\u00a0 Leftovers may be covered and refrigerated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Delightful served warm or cold, for brunch or afternoon tea.<\/p>\n<p>[\/box]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we had yet another culinary adventure.\u00a0 Jacob made his first Quiche!\u00a0 I looked at bunches of recipes, and finally made one up on the fly.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure there will be subsequent modifications, but if you want to experience the original version, here&#8217;s the recipe.
