On Saturday, my hubby surprised me with a very special treat.\u00a0 All he told me before we left the house was that I must bring my camera.\u00a0 Naturally, my interest was piqued!\u00a0 I was both surprised and delighted by the place he chose to take me on our little walking date – the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix.\u00a0 Neither of us had been there before, but he had just read about it in the newspaper and decided we ought to give it a look.\u00a0 Despite the fact that it is winter, and therefore there is less color than there will be in a couple of months, it was absolutely beautiful and we both enjoyed walking the trails around the ponds, admiring the different types of foliage, the careful pruning, the painstaking precision of the hand-placed rock beds, and of course, feeding a few of the 300+ Koi fish in the ponds.<\/p>\n
